Grinding
Surface, cylindrical and centreless grinding capacity in one workshop — the finishing step that brings a machined part to final size and finish.
Grinding
Grinding removes a very small amount of material with an abrasive wheel, which is how we hold close tolerances and produce a smooth, accurate surface — particularly on hardened parts. Our capacity:
Surface Grinding
- 3 Surface Grinders (2 semi-automatic; 1 fully automatic)
- Max 1200mm x 600mm
Cylindrical Grinding
- 2 Cylindrical Grinders (semi-automatic)
- Ø 200mm x 300mm
Centreless Grinding
- 1 Centreless Grinder (semi-automatic)
- Max Ø 60mm, Min Ø 6mm, Max Length 200mm
Typical ground work
- Shaft and spindle diameters running in bearings or seals
- Flat and parallel faces on plates, blocks and die components
- Pins, dowels and plain round bar in quantity
- Hardened components finished after heat treatment
- Mould and tooling faces for our rubber moulding department
Grinding questions
What size can you surface grind?
Up to 1200mm x 600mm across three surface grinders — two semi-automatic and one fully automatic.
What are your cylindrical grinding limits?
Ø 200mm by 300mm long on two semi-automatic cylindrical grinders, ideal for shafts and spindle diameters that need a close tolerance finish.
When would I use centreless grinding?
For plain round bar and pins in quantity. Our centreless grinder takes Ø 6mm to Ø 60mm up to 200mm long, which is fast and consistent on repeat work.
Can you grind parts you did not machine?
Yes. Send in your own components for grinding, or let us turn or mill and then grind them in one place.
Can you grind hardened material?
Grinding is normally how we finish parts after heat treatment. Tell us the material and hardness with your enquiry.
